Bad desk lighting causes squinting, headaches and a cluttered workspace, and a good lamp is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make to a home office. These 8 desk lamps are real, currently-listed Amazon picks for 2026, from clip-on monitor light bars to architect lamps and a smart Dyson, sorted by use case and budget.

Best Overall Monitor Lamp

The BenQ ScreenBar sits on top of your monitor and lights your desk without reflecting off the screen, thanks to an asymmetrical beam. It has adjustable brightness and color temperature and clamps on without taking up desk space. Curved or very thin-bezel monitors may need the optional mount.

Best Premium Monitor Lamp

The ScreenBar Halo adds a backlight that washes the wall behind your monitor, which cuts eye strain in a dark room. It includes a wireless controller for brightness and color temperature. It costs noticeably more than the standard ScreenBar.

How to Choose

Match the lamp to the task. Monitor bars suit screen work, wide-beam lamps suit reading and paperwork.
Look for adjustable color temperature. Warmer light in the evening is easier on the eyes; cooler light helps for daytime focus.
Check desk space. Clip-on and clamp lamps free up room that a base stand would use.
Avoid glare. Position the lamp so light falls on your desk, not on your screen or into your eyes.
Weigh the extras. USB ports, auto-dimming and app control add cost; skip them if you only need basic light.
